“沈遇,今天有个重要的会议要开。”陆清 remind me as she walks down the corridor. Her voice carries a faint undertone of something not entirely positive.
“是啊,有什么事情我会帮你安排的。” I said with a tired smile. But there’s a quiet tension in the air, like a spider sitting on my back unnoticed.
We’ve been best friends since high school, but things between us have never been smooth. Our relationship is like a complicated equation; one minute it’s all chemistry, and the next it’s just smoke and echo.
I was always good at reading people, especially when it comes to love and heartbreak. But陆清 has a way of testing that ability that no other person does.
“Hey, did you hear about the new transfer this semester?” I asked casually one day. “Who’s going where?”
She pause, then her lips quirking into a sly smile. “Oh, you didn’t know? I guess not. You’re such an interesting person.”
“Interesting?” She repeated with a hint of disbelief in her voice.
“Anyway, just thought it’d be fun to see where we end up.” I said with a shrug. “Though I’m not sure if I want to know the answer.”
She laughed, but it wasn’t the heartwarming kind. It was more like a soundbite of something deeper. Something that could only come from knowing someone well.
The tension between us has always been there, like a silent witness to our shared experiences. But when it comes to love, we’ve never been able to let go.
“Do you think we’re supposed to be together?” I asked one night, sitting across from her in the library. “Like, forever?”
She looked at me with a look that was both amused and indulgent. “Of course not,” she said simply. “We’re just two people who happen to share a lot of space.”
But there’s something deeper than just friendship here. Something that makes us question what we want out of life.
“Let’s just say, if you need me, call.” I said with a knowing smile. “And don’t worry too much about the future—no matter where it takes us, I’m already halfway there.”
She laughed again, but this time it felt genuine. A small crack in the facade.
As we walked away from the library that night, she turned to me and said, “You know what’s interesting? Sometimes the people you love are the ones who end up messing with your plans.”
And I think she’s right. Life is full of surprises, even if we’re trying our best not to believe in them.
But when it comes down to it, we’ve got one relationship that’s more complicated than any imaginary scenarios.
Maybe that’s why it’s always interesting when things take an unexpected turn.
“沈遇,你今天看起来不太一样。” Landau noticed as I entered the room. Her expression was soft but full of concern.
I didn’t say much, just nodded in reply. But there’s a weight on my chest that I can’t shake off.
We’ve been through so much together, and yet certain questions still linger. Questions about what we want, who we love, and where our lives are headed.
Maybe that’s why陆清 is always so careful with me. Because she knows how fragile these things can be.
I don’t know if I’m ready for whatever comes next, but one thing is for sure—this life is full of mysteries waiting to be unraveled.
And I’m just a pawn in the great game of love and loss.
Maybe that’s why we’re so drawn to each other. Like two magnets, pulling at each other’s heartstrings until there’s no escape.
But it could also be something far more complicated than anyone knows.
“沈遇,你今天的表情有点不对劲。” Landau said again, her concern evident in every word.
I didn’t respond immediately, just walked out of the room. But I couldn’t ignore how her words lingered on my mind like a bad memory.
Maybe that’s why we’re so caught up in this whole “fake relationship” thing. Because it’s not fake at all—it’s just too real to handle.
But when love is involved, nothing is ever as it seems.
“沈遇,你还记得吗?” Landau called out from down the hall. Her voice was tinged with something I couldn’t quite place.
I turned around and saw her standing in front of my locker. She had a look of concern on her face, like she knew something I didn’t.
“嗯?什么情况?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
She laughed, but it wasn’t the bright kind. It was more like a whisper that made my ears perk up.
“你是不是遇到了什么问题?” she said finally.
I frowned in confusion. “没什么。” I replied quickly. “Just some random stuff going on.”
She scowled and walked away without another word. But I could feel her presence still around me, like an invisible force field that made it harder to focus.
Maybe that’s why we’re always so reactive towards each other. Because the world is full of too many uncertainties for anyone to sit still in.
But love isn’t just about uncertainty—it’s about facing it with all its complexities and trying to make sense of it anyway.
“沈遇,你还记得我们第一次见面的情景吗?” Landau asked, her tone soft but earnest.
I nodded, trying to suppress the shiver that ran through me. “当然记得。” I said honestly. “那天下雨,你在教室外面等我。”
She smiled faintly in response. “是的,我记得很清楚。你那时的样子让我印象深刻——既紧张又期待。”
I looked down at my feet, where my shoes were scuffed from walking through the puddles. “后来怎么样了?”
“后来我们成为了好朋友。” she said simply. “但我们的关系并不像表面看起来那么平静。”
The words left her mouth without any pause, leaving me speechless.
Maybe that’s why I’ve always been so cautious around her. Because there’s a part of me that knows what’s coming next.
But for now, all I can do is try to live in the moment and see where life takes us.
“沈遇,你今天看起来特别累。” Landau said as I entered the library again. Her tone was gentle, but it was clear she was concerned.
I didn’t say much, just nodded and tried to push myself to focus on my studies. But there’s something in the air that feels heavier than usual, like a weight I’ve never felt before.
Maybe that’s why we’re always so reactive towards each other—because love is a force of nature that can pull us apart or bring us together with an intensity we can’t fully comprehend.
But for now, all I know is that whatever happens next, it’s going to be anything but ordinary.
